Any small business can improve their energy efficiency with not too much hassle and at a low cost; there are numerous resources available to you from ENERGY STAR, as other wide variety of organizations. Usually these resources are free and will help you through the process of improving your savings. Try the ENERGY STAR Guide for Small Business to get you started.
Another good resource to turn to is the US Department of Energy website, it has a few options of energy cost calculators to help you cost costs in your home and business. The calculators will allow you to enter values (e.g., utility rates, hours of use, etc.) to estimate the cost savings from acquiring more efficient products. Some are presented as Web based tools others as Excel spread sheets provided by ENERGY STAR® for download.
Alternatively, ARCH a building energy reference tool provides you with a simple way to calculate how your building’s energy use compares to similar buildings. This could be a good start if you own your own business offices.
